About Parenting
How can I find out more about being
a parent?
Women of every age and financial situation can
be successful parents. The key is finding support and making a
life plan. Many of our clients, who choose to parent, also continue
their education and reach their career goals.
Many Women's Care Center counselors are mothers.
So you can talk to them about this experience. If you wish, we
can also put you in contact with women who have been in similar
situations as yours, so you can speak with them about their decision
to parent.
I want to parent my child, but how will I
tell my boyfriend (parent, friends)?
One of the hardest steps is telling others about
your choice. A Women's Care Center counselor can help you break
the news to family and friends.
What if I need medical care or financial support?
Make an appointment to meet with a Women's Care
Center counselor. She can help you find the support you need to
have a healthy pregnancy and become an effective parent.
We can:
- Discuss your options and find solutions
- Call and make doctor appointments
- Give you maternity or baby clothing, food
or supplies
- Help you receive assistance from community
agencies
- Help you earn a crib or a car seat through
our Baby Steps program
- Invite you to practical parenting workshops
